Sikkim’s classical trekking
7 nights/8 days with 5 days of trekking up to 4415 m.a.s.l.

Season: yearround possible; best march to september

Without doubt this is the most popular Trekking-route in Sikkim. The trail leads us through Khanchenjunga National Park offering not only fantastic mountain views but also a colorful spectacles of flowers in spring and summer. Through untouched forests rich in orchids and a great variety of birds and butterflies we trek from the subtropical through the temperate zone and up and beyond the treeline into the mighty alpine zones.
We trek up to the Dzongri-la-pass at 4415 m.a.s.l. from where we can gain views onto the world’s third highest peak, Mt. Khanchenjunga.

During trekking we stay overnight in simple lodges or in double tents.

Dzongri Trek is suitable for anyone who has got some experience in trekking and whose health is in good condition. Even if you trek slowely you can still reach the daily destinations in 4 to 8 hours. We are accompanied by our guide as well as yaks or horses who help carry the equipment. Also part of every trekking-team are experienced cooks, porters and herdsmen.


Itinerary: Dzongri-Trek, 8 days:

1.            Transfer Nepal/India-border to Sikkim
Transfer from the border to Sikkim. Overnight at The Bamboo Resort.

2.            Sajong (Rumtek) – Pelling: To the historic West of Sikkim
Drive by jeep/bus over Ravanla-pass into the western part of Sikkim. After visting Sikkims only Bön-monastery we reach Pelling in the afternoon.
Overnight in hotel.

3.            Wishfulfilling Lake
Pemayangtse – Kechopelri – Yoksum (1780 m)
Trekking, day 1
After visiting Pemayangtse-monastery we reach the wishfulfilling lake by jeep/bus. After a pick-nick by the lake we trek in approx. 3 hours through Lepcha-villages and to a mountain-stream from where we drive up to the village of Yoksum by jeep/bus.
Overnight in hotel.

4.            Yoksum – Tshoka (3050 m)
Trekking, day 2
Through lush forest and over many streams the path leads us in approx. 7 hours to Tshoka, the last permanent settlement within Khanchenjunga National Park.
Overnight in lodge or double tents.

5.            Tshoka – Dzongri (4020 m)
Trekking, day 3
The five-hour-trek leads us through thick rhododendron-forest and finally beyond the tree-line to Dzongri. In case of good weather the view ontoo the lower valleys and the snow-capped peak of Mt. Pandim (6691 m) is breathtaking.
Overnight in lodge or double tents.

6.         Dzongri – Dzongri La (4415 m) - Tshoka
Trekking, day 4
After seeing sunrise at Khanchenjunga we trek back down to Tshoka.
Overnight in lodge or double tent.

7.         Tshoka - Yoksum
Trekking, day 5
Trek back to Yoksum. Overnight in hotel.

8.                  Transfer Yoksum to Nepal/India-border of Bagdogra Airport


Cost:

4-6 pax: US$ 1090.00 per person
7-12 pax: US$ 1050.00 per person
13-16 pax: US$ 970.00  per person

The cost also includes the Kathmandu – Bhadrapur –Kathmandu flight.
